“Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not winnow” (Mt 25:24). These are the weak words of the man who buried his single talent and refused to act. His excuse? He thought God was not fair. That’s exactly what many do today—shrug off responsibility by claiming God hasn’t given them a fair deal.
But let’s be honest: whining that “life isn’t fair” is childish. It’s being a baby. It’s throwing a tantrum at God. Everything you have—your body, your mind, your opportunities—comes from Him. He owes you nothing. He rules in justice and power. When you complain about fairness, you’re accusing God of being unjust, and that is a dangerous mistake. God is perfectly just, and His providence never fails. The problem is not God. The problem is your excuses.
The tragedy of the one-talent servant is that he wasted what God entrusted to him. He let fear and envy paralyze him. Don’t make the same mistake. God expects you to grow, to fight, to work, and to use every gift He’s put in your hands. Stop comparing yourself to others. Stop throwing tantrums when things don’t go your way. Be a man. Get up, take what you’ve been given, and do something with it for His glory.
Challenge: Every time you’re tempted to say “life isn’t fair,” remind yourself: “God is just, and He has given me everything I need.” Then act like it—stop sulking, start building.
Prayer: Almighty Father, crush in me every childish complaint. Give me the strength to stop whining, the courage to take responsibility, and the zeal to use what You’ve given me to honor You. Amen.
