Act of Dedication of the Human Race to Jesus Christ the King (Partial Indulgence MOI 2)

Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate before You. We are Yours, and Yours we wish to be; but to be more surely united with You, behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today to Your Most Sacred Heart. Many indeed have never known You; many, too, despising Your precepts, have rejected You. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Your Sacred Heart.

Be King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken You, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned You; grant that they may quickly return to their Father’s house, lest they die of wretchedness and hunger. Be King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of truth and the unity of faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one Shepherd.

Grant, O Lord, to Your Church assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give tranquility of order to all nations; make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the divine Heart that wrought our salvation; to it be glory and honor for ever. Amen.

Act of Reparation (Partial Indulgence MOI 3).

Most sweet Jesus, Whose overflowing charity for men is requited by so much forgetfulness, negligence, and contempt, behold us prostrate before You, eager to repair by a special act of homage the cruel indifference and injuries to which Your loving Heart is everywhere subjected.

Mindful, alas! that we ourselves have had a share in such great indignities, which we now deplore from the depths of our hearts, we humbly ask Your pardon and declare our readiness to atone by voluntary expiation, not only for our own personal offenses, but also for the sins of those who, straying far from the path of salvation, refuse in their obstinate infidelity to follow You, their Shepherd and Leader, or, renouncing the promises of their Baptism, have cast off the sweet yoke of Your law.

We are now resolved to expiate each and every deplorable outrage committed against You; we are determined to make amends for the manifold offenses against Christian modesty in indecent dress and behavior, for all the foul seductions laid to ensnare the feet of the innocent, for the frequent violations of Sundays and holy days, and for the shocking blasphemies uttered against You and Your Saints. We wish also to make amends for the insults to which Your Vicar on earth and Your priests are subjected, for the profanation, by conscious neglect or terrible acts of sacrilege, of the very Sacrament of Your divine love, and lastly for the public crimes of nations who resist the rights and teaching authority of the Church which you have founded.

Would that we were able to wash away such abominations with our blood. We now offer, in reparation for these violations of Your divine honor, the satisfaction You once made to Your Eternal Father on the cross and which You continue to renew daily on our altars; we offer it in union with the acts of atonement of Your Virgin Mother and all the saints and of the pious faithful on earth; and we sincerely promise to make recompense, as far as we can with the help of Your grace, for all neglect of Your great love and for the sins we and others have committed in the past. Henceforth, we will live a life of unswerving faith, of purity of conduct, of perfect observance of the precepts of the Gospel and especially that of charity. We promise to the best of our power to prevent others from offending You and to bring as many as possible to follow you.

O loving Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mother, our model in reparation, deign to receive the voluntary offering we make of this act of expiation; and by the crowning gift of perseverance keep us faithful unto death in our duty and the allegiance we owe to You, that we may all one day come to that happy home, where with the Father and the Holy Spirit You live and reign, for ever and ever. Amen.

St. Augustine prayer to the Lord Jesus

Lord Jesus, let me know myself and know You, and desire nothing save only You. Let me hate myself and love You. Let me do everything for the sake of You. Let me humble myself and exalt You. Let me think of nothing except You. Let me die to myself and live in You. Let me accept whatever happens as from You. Let me banish self and follow You, and ever desire to follow You.

Let me fly from myself and take refuge in You, that I may deserve to be defended by You. Let me fear for myself, let me fear You, and let me be among those who are chosen by You. Let me distrust myself and put my trust in You. Let me be willing to obey for Your sake. Let me cling to nothing save only to You, and let me be poor because of You.

Look upon me, that I may love You. Call me that I may see You, and for ever enjoy You. Amen. (Rac 88).

Cardinal Merry del Val Prayer to Jesus

O Dearly beloved Word of God, teach me to be generous, to serve You as You deserve, to give without counting the cost, to fight without fretting at my wounds, to labor without seeking rest, to spend myself without looking for any reward other than that of knowing that I do You holy will. Amen. (Rac 111).

He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. Scriptural Stations of the Cross – St. John Paul II

In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

God of power and mercy, in love You sent Your Son that we might be cleansed of sin and live with You forever. Bless us as we gather to reflect on His suffering and death that we may learn from His example the way we should go. We ask this through that same Christ, our Lord. Amen.

First Station: Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go yonder and pray.” And taking with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then He said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with Me.” And going a little farther He fell on His face and prayed, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.” And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and He said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Mt 26:36-41).

Lord, grant us your strength and wisdom, that we may seek to follow your will in all things.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Second Station: Jesus, Betrayed by Judas, is Arrested

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I shall kiss is the man; seize him and lead him away under guard.” And when he came, he went up to Him at once, and said, “Master!” And he kissed Him. And they laid hands on Him and seized Him. (Mk 14:43-46).

Lord, grant us the courage of our convictions that our lives may faithfully reflect the good news you bring.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Third Station: Jesus is Condemned by the Sanhedrin

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes; and they led Him away to their council, and they said, “If you are the Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe; and if I ask you, you will not answer. But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.” And they all said, “Are you the Son of God, then?” And He said to them, “You say that I am.” And they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from His own lips” (Lk 22:66-71).

Lord, grant us your sense of righteousness that we may never cease to work to bring about the justice of the kingdom that you promised.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Fourth Station: Jesus is Denied by Peter

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. And a maid came up to him, and said, “You also were with Jesus the Galilean.” But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you mean.” And when he went out to the porch, another maid saw him, and she said to the bystanders, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.” And again he denied it with an oath, “I do not know the man.” After a little while the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Certainly you are also one of them, for your accent betrays you.” Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know the man.” And immediately the cock crowed. And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, “Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly (Mt 26:69-75).

Lord, grant us the gift of honesty that we may not fear to speak the truth even when difficult.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Fifth Station: Jesus is Judged by Pilate

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

And as soon as it was morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council held a consultation; and they bound Jesus and led Him away and delivered him to Pilate. And Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And He answered him, “You have said so.” And the chief priests accused Him of many things. And Pilate again asked Him, “Have You no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against You.” But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate wondered…So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas; and having scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified (Mk 15:1-5, 15).

Lord, grant us discernment that we may see as you see, not as the world sees.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Sixth Station: Jesus is Scourged and Crowned with Thorns

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

Then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him. And the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns, and put it on His head, and arrayed Him in a purple robe; they came up to Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck Him with their hands (Jn 19:1-3).

Lord, grant us patience in times of suffering that we may offer our lives as a sacrifice of praise.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Seventh Station: Jesus Bears the Cross

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

When the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no crime in Him.”…They cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” Then he handed Him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus, and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called the place of a skull, which is called in Hebrew Golgotha (Jn 19:6, 15-17).

Lord, grant us strength of purpose that we may faithfully bear our crosses each day.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Eighth Station: Jesus is Helped by Simon the Cyrenian to Carry the Cross

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

And they compelled a passer-by, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry His cross (Mk 15:21).

Lord, grant us willing spirits that we may be your instruments on earth.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Ninth Station: Jesus Meets the Women of Jerusalem

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

And there followed him a great multitude of the people, and of women who bewailed and lamented him. But Jesus turning to them said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For behold, the days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never gave suck!’ Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us’; and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’ For if they do this when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry? (Lk 23:27-31).

Lord, grant us gentle spirits that we may comfort those who mourn.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Tenth Station: Jesus is Crucified

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

And when they came to the place which is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” (Lk 23:33-34).

Lord, grant us merciful hearts that we may bring your reconciliation and forgiveness to all.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Eleventh Station: Jesus Promises His Kingdom to the Good Thief

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

One of the criminals who were hanged railed at Him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And He said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise” (Lk 23:39-43).

Lord, grant us perseverance that we may never stop seeking You.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Twelfth Station: Jesus Speaks to His Mother and the Disciple

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

But standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing near, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home (Jn 19:25-27).

Lord, grant us constancy that we may be willing to stand by those in need.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Thirteenth Station: Jesus Dies on the Cross

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun’s light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into Thy hands I commit My spirit!” And having said this He breathed His last (Lk 23:44-46)

Lord, grant us trust in you that when our time on earth in ended our spirits may come to You without delay.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Fourteenth Station: Jesus is Placed in the Tomb

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus. He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock; and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed (Mt 27:57-60).

Lord, grant us Your compassion that we may always provide for those in need.

Lord Jesus, help us walk in Your steps.

Lord Jesus Christ, Your passion and death is the sacrifice that unites earth and Heaven and reconciles all people to You. May we who have faithfully reflected on these mysteries follow in Your steps and so come to share Your glory in Heaven where You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
