Overview
The pilgrimage of Catholic manhood begins with Jesus. Every Catholic man who comes to believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of Man, and that he personally needs Jesus as his Savior, is received into the Holy Catholic Church Militant. From that moment, he begins a lifelong pilgrimage toward the eternal happiness of Heaven with the Blessed Trinity and all the Saints and Angels. Catholic manhood is not accidental or aimless. It is a vocation, a calling from God, which unfolds in three stages: Catholic Son, Catholic Father, and Catholic Saint. Each stage builds upon the last, requiring steady growth and discipline as a man is formed into who God created him to be.
Catholic manhood advances through three necessary stages. First, a man becomes a Catholic Son. Born with Original Sin, he is adopted by the Father in Baptism, strengthened by Penance and the Eucharist, and confirmed as he reaches maturity. The Catholic Son’s task is to stop rebelling against God, resist Satan, and begin building the holy habits that strengthen virtue. Second, a man matures into a Catholic Father. Whether husband, priest, deacon, or consecrated single, he moves beyond personal obedience to spiritual fatherhood, leading others to Christ. Finally, the rarest stage is Catholic Saint, when God works through the man in extraordinary ways, uniting him deeply to Himself in love.
Growth requires holy habits. No man becomes holy by accident. Just as athletic or professional excellence requires repeated practice, so too the excellence of Catholic manhood demands persistent habits.
