“Every one who commits sin is a slave to sin.” (Jn 8:34)
Consider: “Zombie” entertainment has proliferated in recent years because men are fascinated by stories of evil lost souls who are possessed by some biological or Satanic force. Zombies are souls whose intellects are dulled, whose minds are possessed, and who are engaged in deep evil.
While zombies are fictional in entertainment, in a very real way, many men are becoming zombies due to their use and even addiction to pornography.
Realize: A man who engages in pornography opens himself to Satanic influence and enslavement and to a cycle of deepening perversion that eventually damages every aspect of a man’s life. Satan has always sought to draw men into rebellion against God (CCC 1849) and to damnation in Hell by weakening freedom, clouding judgment, and reducing men to slaves of appetite rather than sons of God (CCC 1733, 1739). Pornography is one of Satan’s most effective tools, deliberately engineered by his accomplices to psychologically addict men through scientific techniques that enslave them in the Vice of Lust (CCC 2351). Over time, pornography damages every aspect of a man’s life, separating him from God (CCC 1865), from his wife and children, and from the great good that God desires for him.
Resolution: Today, I practice Heroic Sexual Self-Discipline so I can be free of Satan’s influence and experience the joy of Chastity.
My Beloved Lord, I will learn more about how pornography is destroying me, and I take to heart Your direct and drastic command to battle against the evil of sin (Mt 5:29–30). I embrace St. Paul’s guidance to “Hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good” (Rom 12:9), and soberly accept St. Peter’s warning that Satan will continue to “prowl like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Pt 5:8). I know You have conquered Satan (Jn 12:31–32; CCC 2852) and will deliver me from the Evil One (CCC 6:13; Jn 10:28). Lord Jesus, I want to have the freedom, joy, and peace You want me to have now, and to receive the happiness beyond my imagination of being in Heaven with the Almighty Father, You, and the Holy Spirit, and all the Saints and Angels forever (1 Cor 2;9). Jesus, make me a saint!
Examine: How does Satan seduce and enslave men through pornography?
Pray: Jesus, help me build the Virtue of Faith so I can be saved from Satan and pornography and grow in Chastity by practicing Heroic Sexual Self-Discipline. Amen.
