As a man becomes conditioned by pornography, his desires grow increasingly perverted, and he begins seeking to recreate within his marriage (or nonmarital sexual relationships) the pornographic scenes and behaviors that have excited him.
Realize: The pornified man pressures his wife (or future wife) to imitate the sexually perverted women and prostitutes he has watched, substituting her for his fantasies rather than loving her as his bride. He may encourage or coerce her to watch pornography and perform degrading sexual acts that violate her innocence, modesty, and dignity, acts she finds distressing and painful, but may endure in an attempt to please him or preserve the relationship. Research shows that porn-driven sexual experimentation does not deepen marital union but instead lowers sexual satisfaction for women, increases emotional distance, and raises the risk of infidelity, nonmonogamy, and divorce. As a result, the pornified man’s warped desires defile the marriage bed and can damage or even destroy marital intimacy with his wife.
Resolution: Today, I practice Heroic Sexual Self-discipline so I never again defile the beautiful purity of my wife but instead rekindle and experience the astounding joy of Chastity.
My God, I am alarmed, ashamed, and heartbroken that the perversion of pornography has entered our married life, and I beg Your forgiveness. By Your grace, I vow never again to degrade the woman I love through pornography in any form, whether through images, fantasies, expectations, or demands, and I will never encourage my wife (or future wife) to view it. I commit to removing every porn-influenced idea or practice from our sexual life so that nothing remains that corrupts or degrades us. I thank You for my beautiful bride, and I trust that You can restore my natural desire for her alone, marked by reverence, patience, and tenderness, and lead us back to the exquisite joy of marital intimacy as You intended.
