Realize: Many women sense, suspect, or eventually discover their man’s pornography use because it is rarely contained; it reshapes a man’s desires, drains intimacy, and produces emotional distance and sexual withdrawal that cannot remain hidden. Research consistently shows that women experience the discovery of their man’s pornography use as sexual betrayal comparable to infidelity or adultery, often accompanied by profound harm, including betrayal trauma, shattered trust, anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, emotional numbness, sleep disturbances, diminished self-worth, and the painful belief that their man sexually desires others and that they are unattractive and inadequate. A man’s pornography habit is not private or harmless; it is a grave betrayal that deeply wounds a woman’s heart. Sooner or later, it can devastate the woman he loves and destabilize or even destroy their relationship.
Resolution: Today, I practice Heroic Sexual Self-discipline so I never again risk devastating my beloved through pornography and may more fully experience the joy of Chastity.
My God, I confess my foolishness in failing to recognize how devastating my pornography viewing can be to my wife, fiancée, or girlfriend. Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner. I now see the beautiful and sacred gift You have entrusted to me in the woman I love. I did not realize that she would experience my pornography use as infidelity, causing deep suffering through anxiety, depression, wounded trust, and painful feelings of unattractiveness and inadequacy. Give me the strength to never again view pornography, heal the wounds caused by my sin, protect her from further harm, and instill in me a firm, good, and just will to strengthen and safeguard our relationship and bond in holiness, fidelity, and love. Father, I give You great thanks for my beloved; help me to love her as You do!
