Overview

The word Gospel means “good news.” The good news is Jesus Christ Himself—God who became man to save every man and to lead him to the happiness he longs for. Every Catholic man who truly listens to the Gospel discovers the truth: he needs a Savior, and Jesus is the only One who can give him true and lasting happiness.

This happiness begins now, as Jesus renews a man’s life on earth, and it finds its perfect fulfillment in eternal life with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, together with the angels and saints in heaven. From the very start of His public ministry, Jesus makes this clear. In His first sermon, the Sermon on the Mount, He begins with the Beatitudes—the happinesses—which reveal how a man can begin to experience God’s joy even in this life. He ends with the promise of the Beatific Vision, the eternal happiness of seeing God face-to-face. Everything in between shows the way of salvation, the way to happiness.
