Overview
To reach Heaven, a man must come to truly believe that Jesus is the Savior of Mankind, awaken awe in his soul for Jesus Christ, recognize his personal need to be saved from sin and death, and commit to living a zealous Catholic life—the only sure path Jesus promises will lead to sainthood and eternal happiness. The first and most essential step in building unshakable faith is becoming deeply convinced that Jesus is indeed the Savior. This conviction begins by seriously studying the life of Jesus Christ and allowing oneself to become awed by Him.
The word awe originates from the Greek akhos, meaning “pain” or “grief,” and has evolved to signify “dread mixed with veneration” or being “profoundly reverential.” Awe is the fitting response to the presence of God. The Gospels, written by eyewitnesses who were awed by Jesus, offer compelling, historically reliable testimonies to anyone with an open and objective heart. While simply reading the Gospels with the guidance of the Holy Spirit can move a man to faith, it can be deeply helpful to have tools that illuminate the divine majesty and human greatness of Jesus as revealed in the Scriptures.
One particularly fruitful method to become awed by Jesus is to reflect on His Divinity, Humanity, and Mission. Jesus’s Divinity is shown in His Divine Identity, Knowledge, and Power, revealing that He is no mere man but the Divine Son of God. His Humanity is demonstrated in His relationships, physical body, human emotions, knowledge, and moral virtues—showing Him to be not only fully human, but the Perfect Man. His Mission is fulfilled in His three Divine Offices as King, Prophet, and Priest, through which He establishes His Kingdom and the Holy Catholic Church as the exclusive means of salvation.
This page offers several powerful ways to meet Jesus and come to know Him more personally. As you explore the different sections, you’ll find multiple paths to discover who Jesus is, grow in awe of Him, and deepen your faith in His saving mission.
